:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from SMK9 -- Amazing book! : I absolutely loved this book! Arlo and Jack are perfect for each other. To say this book has everything is an understatement.: Love, snarky comments, evil ex, horrible parents, loving parents, protective siblings and friends, along with some seriously funny stories from past mishaps to an awkward dance to a Missy Elliott song all make this a great easy light hearted read when we can all use it. While I have openly laughed reading other books before, I believe I did it more while reading this one! Arlo is the best. He is funny, caring, sweet, charming and stands up for those he loves and would definitely be someone I would hang around with. Jack is also wonderful but not nearly as outgoing as Arlo, which works perfectly to balance out their relationship. The group of friends are fun loving young adults that love and watch out for each other. Some things other readers may call juvenile and that's okay. But even at 53 I still have the sense of humor of a teenager at times. Most of the time it is of a teenage boy! It is what helps me get through each day with my sanity after living through this year of unknowns. ( Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2020 )

Get this one and even though it takes place at Christmas, it's really an over-the-top road trip by a bunch of very loose and somewhat immature Brits having a debauch in Amsterdam. - 4.0 out of 5 stars from Mr Toad -- complicated feelings on this one. : The characters tend to be two dimensional and the story is pretty light on plot. The humor is broad - think klutzy Jerry Lewis visits Amsterdam with a fellow he has a crush on. At a certain point the clumsiness gets unbelievable. There is very little plot. Two young men harbor hidden feelings for each other, they find out and do the wild thing, obnoxious ex shows up, he's told to go away, our heroes do more of the wild thing. That is it. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Absolutely perfect : After the crappy year that we've all had in 2020 the timing of this story is the perfect pick me up to end the year. It's a really lovely feel good take of the love between two men who have known each other for most of their lives. Arlo has had a massive crush on his brother Tom's best friend Jack since he was 11 and Jack was 15. The story is mostly set in Amsterdam just before Christmas. Tom has decided to arrange a short vacation to propose to his boyfriend Bee. Arlo and Jack together with a couple of other friends are all along for the occasion but due to a mix up with the reservation at the hotel Arlo and Jack and up sharing a room, and so their story begins. The book is full of Lily Morton's usual snark and laugh out loud comedy, honestly I cried with laughter whilst reading this book. There is nothing to dislike about this story apart from Jack's parents and his ex boyfriend - but Arlo's family and friends more than make up for the horrible people, so it's all good in the end. It’s a Christmas standalone featuring Jack & Arlo and their extended group of friends and family. It’s perfect - starting at tales of an unrequited childhood crush on brother’s best friend, and going up to current day. Throw in a trip to Amsterdam, a shared hotel room, some funny friends, hilarious parents and a horrible ex and it’s a perfect mix of a sweet Christmas story. Loved it! Arlo is a loveable man who is just so happy. Unfortunately he’s so clumsy but that’s part of his charm. Jack is so different from Arlo but perfect for each other. The flight scene is so funny.
